Fuses serve as the core short-circuit protection components in power distribution networks and control systems, specializing in protection against short circuits and severe overloads. They are simple yet highly efficient elements for circuit protection. The industry is currently upgrading toward high-conductivity materials, high breaking capacity and fast response performance. Shuguang Fuses offers a full range of types and specifications, with performance keeping pace with industry trends and suitable for protection in diverse application scenarios.
A fuse consists of a melt element and an insulating tube (base). In service, the melt element is connected in series to the protected circuit and fuses instantly to cut off the circuit when a short circuit occurs. The mainstream industry upgrade adopts silver/copper for melt elements and high-strength ceramic for insulating tubes. Shuguang Fuses adopts precision pure silver sheet melt elements, with insulating parts featuring high temperature resistance and impact resistance, delivering more accurate and reliable protection.
Types and Applications of General Fuses
Plug-in Fuse: Applied to line terminals of 380V and below. The contact parts of Shuguang models are tin-plated for oxidation resistance, suitable for civil power distribution and light-load industrial scenarios.
Screw Type Fuse: Designed with a blowout indicator on the upper end cap. The indicator pops out immediately once the melt element melts, and the fuse status can be directly observed through the glass hole on the porcelain cap. Featuring high breaking current, it is applicable to circuits of 500V and below with a current rating under 200A, widely used in machine tool electrical control. Shuguang upgrades the ceramic shell for enhanced impact resistance with a more sensitive indicator, and its breaking performance exceeds industry standards.
Enclosed Fuse: Divided into filled and non-filled types. The filled type is internally filled with quartz sand for strong breaking capacity. Shuguang models adopt high-purity quartz sand with excellent sealing performance, ideal for harsh and complex working environments.
Fast Acting Fuse: Used for the protection of semiconductor rectifiers, adopting V-shaped deep-groove silver sheet melt elements. Shuguang products achieve millisecond-level fusing, perfectly matching high-voltage DC scenarios such as photovoltaic power generation and rectifier equipment.
Self-resetting Fuse: Adopting sodium metal melt element, it only limits current without cutting off the circuit and is reusable. Shuguang optimizes the sealing structure to reduce sodium element loss and extend service life.
During operation, the fuse shall be connected in series to the protected circuit. The fuse link will automatically blow in case of short circuit or severe overload. Shuguang provides a complete range of fuse specifications to accurately meet various circuit requirements.
Fuse Parameter Selection Guidelines

The rated voltage shall be consistent with the motor operating voltage; overvoltage use is strictly prohibited. Shuguang covers multiple voltage levels including 380V and 500V.
The rated current shall be higher than the long-term maximum operating current of the circuit to avoid unnecessary fusing under normal working conditions.
The current-limiting current shall exceed the maximum short-circuit current of the circuit to prevent damage to the fuse itself.
The rated current of the fuse element shall match the motor working condition. The motor starting current can reach 4~8 times the rated current. The fuse element must avoid aging and accidental fusing during motor startup. Shuguang can customize fuse characteristics to match different motor operating conditions.
