Low Voltage Fuses Introduction

Low-voltage fuses serve as essential short-circuit and overcurrent protection components for low-voltage distribution networks and electric drive systems. Ceramic-type fuses dominate mainstream applications. Once the current exceeds the preset value, the built-in element generates heat and melts to disconnect the circuit efficiently, delivering reliable circuit protection. They are extensively adopted in low-voltage power distribution, control systems and various electrical appliances.

The industry is steadily upgrading towards high-conductivity materials, high breaking capacity and modular design. Fully aligned with such development trends, Shuguang low-voltage fuses boast outstanding performance and stand as an ideal option for low-voltage power distribution projects.

Fuse Structure & Core Technical Specifications

 1. Structural Composition

Fuse Element

As the core functional part, it is manufactured into wire, sheet or mesh forms. Outdated lead-tin alloy is phased out, while copper and silver have become prevailing raw materials. We adopt high-purity silver and copper to guarantee precise fusing action and rapid response speed.

Fuse Tube

It acts as a protective enclosure for fuse elements, crafted from high-temperature resistant insulating materials with built-in arc-quenching capability. Premium-grade products are filled with quartz sand to enhance arc extinction. Our fuse tubes are made of ceramic or bakelite, featuring superior insulation, heat resistance and remarkable arc suppression performance.

Fuse Base

Designed to secure fuse tubes and external connecting wires, our bases undergo professional anti-corrosion treatment. They feature low contact resistance and fit diverse installation scenarios perfectly.

Main Operational Advantages

1. Professionally engineered for short-circuit protection in low-voltage distribution and electric drive systems, it also provides effective protection against mild overcurrent.

2. Assembled with fuse element, fuse tube and base in modular structure, enabling simple installation and convenient disassembly.

3. Installed in series within protected circuits, its current-carrying capacity matches circuit requirements. It breaks the circuit instantly upon short-circuit failure, offering maximum safeguard for power lines and electrical equipment.

How to Select Suitable Fuses

Fuse selection shall be determined by service environment, load property and short-circuit current. Shuguang supplies a full lineup of models and complete specifications. Standard selection guidelines are listed below:

1. Model Matching

RL1 screw-type fuses are well-suited for machine tool electrical control; enclosed tubular fuses including RM3 and HH3 series are preferred for indoor power distribution.

2. Rated Voltage & Current Matching

The rated voltage shall be not lower than actual circuit voltage, and the rated current shall be no less than the rated current of equipped fuse elements. Our products cover voltage levels of 250V, 380V and 500V, with current specifications ranging from 15A to 600A.

3. Fuse Element Current Selection

(1) Lighting & electric heating equipment: Fuse rated current equals load rated current

(2) Infrequent starting motors: IRN ≥ (1.5~2.5)IN

(3) Multi-motor combined protection: IRN ≥ (1.5~2.5)INx+∑IN

Application Example

For Y112M-4 machine tool motor (4kW, 380V, 8.8A), Shuguang RL1-60/20 fuse equipped with 20A dedicated fuse element is highly recommended. With 60A rated current and 500V rated voltage, it fully satisfies practical protection needs.

Installation & Usage Precautions

In accordance with industry norms and product characteristics:

1. Only intact and qualified fuses are allowed for use. All Shuguang products undergo strict factory inspection to ensure stable quality.

2. Ensure firm contact between fuse element and clamp, as well as clamp and base, to avoid abnormal heating and accidental fusing.

3. Use genuine standard fuse elements; original supporting elements are strongly recommended to ensure consistent performance.

4. Cut off the power supply completely before replacing fuse elements or tubes. The modular structure enables quick and easy replacement work.

5. Timely replace the fuse tubes of RM10, RM3 and other relevant series when reaching the rated breaking capacity.

6. Figure out and eliminate circuit faults thoroughly before installing new fuse elements after burnout.

7. When used together with isolation switches, install fuses at the power inlet side of control switches.

Conforming to national and international standards and verified by authoritative testing institutions, Shuguang low-voltage fuses are widely applied in indoor power distribution, machine tool electric control, lighting systems and other fields, building a solid safety barrier for stable and secure operation of low-voltage circuits.
